The Keningskei as a tangible memento of King's Day 2026

In Dokkum, ‘Keningskeien’ (King’s Stones) have been installed along the route taken by the royal family on April 27, 2026, serving as a lasting reminder of the royal visit. As the proud manufacturer of the Keningskei, Repos was present when Mayor Kramer laid the first stone on the route. In addition to the stones along the route, Repos produced 800 replicas of the Keningskei as a tangible memento of King’s Day. This 1:2 scale replica is now available.

A lasting memory in the streets of Dokkum

Together, the ‘Koningskeien’ (Royal Cobblestones) form a recognizable route through the city center. Each stone marks a section of the path taken by the royal family on Monday, April 27, 2026, allowing people to relive this special route.

Laying these stones along the route was an initiative of the Municipality of Noardeast-Fryslân and Studio Byfrank, intended to create a lasting connection between the city and that historic moment.

Handcrafted commemorative stone with character

Repos handles the production of the Keningskeien (King’s Stones). For this special occasion, a high quality brass plaque, featuring a refined engraving was selected. The plaque is finished with a durable varnish coating to prevent discoloration and wear.

Each stone has been carefully crafted and features a subtly weathered, artisanal finish, giving it the appearance of having been part of the streetscape for years. These stones will be placed at a total of fifteen locations along the 800-meter route. Each one bears the logo for Keningsdei 2026—a stylish feature that blends perfectly into the streetscape while honoring the significance of the occasion.

With these commemorative markers, we demonstrate the impact brass can have on the look and feel of public spaces.
Brass possesses an inherent, warm, golden quality that instantly adds a touch of distinction.
Combining it with techniques such as engraving and a subtly aged finish creates genuine character.

We frequently use this material for nameplates, panels, and other projects where aesthetics are key.
